Alright
Everything negative -pressure, challenges- is all an opportunity for me to rise.
Kobe Bryant
Feeling overwhelmed is okay.
It is okay to be shattered one moment and not feel like picking up the pieces the next. There is so much tragedy happening around us, so much healing left to do within us and it sometimes happens that we just need to take a minute, a day, a week, a month, however long we need to redeem ourselves from situations that no longer serve us to let go and let God.
At times the world we know, can be falling apart and we may be right there with it, breaking down because of the heavy weight that threatens to keep us down. Swimming is difficult to do when you are in the middle of the ocean and the shore is miles and miles away. So, why even fight? Because when we stop fighting, we stop living, truly living not just breathing and doing what needs to be done. What sense does it make to live but not be be alive? To not fight and risk the chance of not surviving? Today is here, and getting to see it is a blessing on its own, one that's easy to take for granted.
How is your heart?
I got a message not too long ago asking me not how I was doing but it said: How is your heart? It made me think of my heart and how it was really doing, 30 days after screaming happy new year at the top of my lungs, how was my heart for real? Was it satisfied? Was it angry or happy? Sad or joyful? I looked into my heart for seven days and realized my heart was healing. Healing from the past, it was healing the present and healing the future. We are not perfect, we are not always okay, tragedy and bad news can come to us in the most unexpected ways but having another day to live, gives us another opportunity to conquer, to be better, to forgive, to love, to rise and to heal.
With Babylon on fire, my heart longed for Zion.

Maybe our Babylon is on fire because it is time for us to move to Zion, to get out of our comfort zone, to start living, get rid of toxicity within ourselves and from others, to pray more, meditate more, to seek and find God. At the end of the day it is about looking back at what we may be going through right now and smile because we rose, we bloomed, we conquered, we survived.
Sending all my love to everyone tossing and turning at night, to everyone who feels like they can't go any further and feels like they are being run over, to everyone going through it. In the words of Kendrick Lamar: We gon' be alright.
Love,
Maame
